Doctor Simon Ilkin
Director
Meet Dr. Simon Ilkin, Trusted Vet in NSW Australia
Dr. Simon Ilkin, a proud Shire local, graduated from Sydney University in 2010 with first-class honours. His honours dissertation, “In vitro solubilisation and mechanical kinetics of cooked versus uncooked bones to be fed to dogs,” was published in the Australian Veterinary Practitioners Journal, showcasing his early dedication to veterinary research.
As the son of Dr. William Ilkin, who founded Kirrawee Veterinary Hospital in 1975, Simon has naturally stepped into the role of director following Bill’s retirement. Under Bill’s mentorship, he has learned the importance of continually expanding his knowledge, always striving to discover and implement new surgical techniques. From Margueritte, he has inherited a deep sense of compassion and kindness—values he carries forward in his care for both clients and their four-legged family members.
Simon has a keen interest in orthopaedics, ophthalmology, and internal surgery, along with a strong passion for ultrasonography, internal medicine, and clinical pathology. Since joining KVH, he has also gained a special companion—Benny, a kitten who was brought in as a stray with severe internal injuries and broken bones after being attacked by a dog. Benny’s remarkable recovery under Simon’s care is a testament to his skill and dedication.
As director, Simon is committed to upholding KVH’s reputation for excellence while fostering a warm, welcoming environment for pets and their owners.
